Cow on a hot tin roof
Step into the cow pasture, but watch out and don't step in any...holes! In Maverick, YOU are the cow and you are wandering around a pasture in search of all the best grass to eat. But the pasture is full of holes, and if you step in one you'll break a leg and lose the game. To keep this from happening you have a supply of lids to lay down over the holes. Your job is to find all the holes and cover them so you can eat in complete safety.

As you walk around you'll see signs telling you how many holes are adjacent to the square the sign is on. (Diagonals count!) When you think you know where a hole is, move next to it, press Enter to grab a lid, then move onto the hole to cover it. If you're right, a lid will appear in the square you moved to. If you are wrong, you used up one of your lids in error. If your supply of lids ever falls below the number of holes remaining, you lose!

You want to chew your cub and deduce as much as you can and only use the lids on known holes--use the spare lids to guess when there is no sure way to determine which of two squares is a hole. If you mark all the holes in a field, you are moved to another field of the same size but which has even MORE holes to find.

Maverick features a rockin' song to "git along to" as well as four different size pastures to try your brain on. Keep in mind that you gain points for every hole you cover, but you LOSE points for every step you take! Each pasture keeps its own high score list of the 100 smartest cows who've ever grazed there.
